On 11th September, all of the children from Nursery to Year 6, took part in a fun run to raise funds for an ‘Ele-bus’ to help children get to school safely in Sri Lanka!  The children ran the Brookburn mile, around the playground, through the woodland and across the playing field.  Nursery wore some impressive elephant masks and many children brought in elephant toys to promote the event.
The Ele-bus  will safely transport children, who live in remote regions, to school. In some parts of Sri Lanka, elephant corridors cross roads, causing humans and elephants to come into conflict. The Sri Lankan Wildlife Conservation Society  will make the project a reality once they have raised the money needed. Brookburn children raised over £209.51 towards the fund  – well done everyone!
